WORLD SERIES OF FIGHTING – GLOBAL CHAMPIONSHIP
ADDS THREE MORE FIGHTS TO WSOF-GC 2 JAPAN MAIN CARD
Fight Scheduled for February 7 at Tokyo Dome City Hall in Tokyo, Japan
LAS VEGAS, NV December 17, 2015 World Series of Fighting – Global Championship (WSOF-GC) just announced three more confirmed fights to a very stacked card at WSOF-GC 2 Japan on February 7 in Tokyo.
Japan’s Yusaku Nakamura (11-4-1) and USA’s Lawrence DiGuilio (17-6-1) will both make their WSOF-GC debut in a feature 125lb Flyweight battle. Nakamura is currently riding a six-fight win streak with four of those wins by knockout. DiGuilio brings his own impressive nine-fight win streak to the Decagon. Title implications will be on the line for each of these fighters, assuring one of them will fight for WSOF-GC gold in the near future.
Japan’s Yusuke Kawaguchi (18-10) and USA’s Richard Odoms (10-2) will also make their WSOF-GC debut in a Heavyweight throwdown. Kawaguchi is one of the most popular heavyweights in Japanese MMA history. He will face tough competition when the formerly UFC-signed, and current San Antonio police officer, Odoms steps into the cage.
Japan’s Yoshihiro Koyama (21-9-2) will be the first fighter to ever compete for WSOF-GC twice, having competed on the inaugural card in China back in November 2015. Koyama will be making his 145lb debut against Poland’s Kamil Lebkowski (13-4). Lebkowski is the reigning Profesjonalna Liga MMA Featherweight Champion and is riding an eight-fight win streak.
“Each of these match ups features a bout that could headline a lot of cards around the world,” states WSOF-GC Vice President of Operations and Matchmaker, Jason Lilly. “It really is a something special to see fighters from across the globe coming together for an epic event. We will have eight countries represented on this card. This is truly shaping up to be a ‘Super Card’ for Super Bowl weekend.”
The event is also headlined by a WSOF-GC World Heavyweight Title Match featuring Russia’s Evgeny Erokhin (13-4) vs Hungary’s Jani Istvan (11-1). Other matches previously confirmed include Akihiro Gono (34-19-8) vs Slovakia’s Mirsolav Strbak (12-5); Michihiro Omigawa (16-14-1) vs France’s Teddy Violet (10-1); and the return of Japanese Women’s MMA legend, Hisae Watanabe (19-6).
