And it’s his 4th straight knockout inside the octagon. Chad Mendes also showcased some outstanding wrestling defense, and did well in countering Clay Guida’s footwork and striking.
In the end, Mendes caught Guida flush on the chin, forcing the latter to cover up before raining down some nice ground-and-pound to force a stoppage.
Mendes has now won four straight since his title defeat to champ Jose Aldo, and looks in his pole position to get another shot at the 145-lbs belt.
As for Guida, the Jackson’s MMA native drops his third defeat in four outings, following a tremendous 4-fight winning run.
